![]() ![]() Except for whatever that might have been left behind by whoever's sharing the dream who was trapped down there before. “Īriadne: Well, what the hell is down there?Īrthur: Just raw, infinite subconscious. Meaning Cobb may have inadvertently caused Saito to question reality.Dom and Mal's world built in Limbo, ruined due to being in a state of disuse for so long. For Saito to understand the significance and act upon it, Saito has been incepted with the idea that ‘this world is not real’ – the exact same thing that happened to Mal. Now, Saito knows nothing of Cobb’s spinning top totem. The interesting part of the final Limbo scene is when the spinning top continues to spin and Saito realising it is a dream kills both Cobb and himself. He’s overwhelming willpower to remember and get back to his children brings him to his senses. Cobb has been to Limbo before and therefore he is more resistant to it or 2. Now, how Cobb manages to work out that the world he currently is in is a dream can only be attributed to: 1. He is no longer sure of his surroundings and he can barely distinguish Limbo from reality. This also answer’s why he seems so confused and dazed this time around. By drowning in level 1, he re-enter’s Limbo. What I believe happens is that Cobb does not wake because he missed the kick back up to level 1, but his body in level 1 is still alive. There is an assumption he dies in Limbo, however, as the others kick in level 1 – Cobb is left behind in the van along with Saito. The scene we see is Cobb holding onto his projection of Mal and Limbo is crumbling around him. This also explains why he seems so old when Cobb visits him later on – he died earlier and therefore trapped in Limbo for longer.Ĭobb’s case is very interesting and in my first few viewings of Inception, it completely threw me off Limbo and level 4. ![]() The actual shot of him dying is in the snow level (level 3), however, it is my belief that he’s body gives out in level 1 and his death cascades through the dream levels. Saito is shot in the first dream level and although he goes deeper and deeper into dream level – he eventually dies. Now, there is some confusion where these character’s die – this is my take on it. #Inception limbo movieThe movie evidence is shown when Saito dies in level 1 and Dom in level 1. A curious point is that Yusuf is also aware of the fact 3 – I believe this scenario has come up before with his experiments on his patients. It is interesting to note that no one argues with Cobb and Arthur states Cobb is the only one who has ‘actually been in Limbo’. Eames suggest’s killing Saito to wake him up – Cobb immediately stops him and informs the team that he would drop into Limbo. On the main mission, Saito is shot from Fischer’s militarised subconscious. #Inception limbo freeOne of the questions I had before was why Adriadne and Fischer didn’t return to reality after jumping off the building – the free fall was essentially their ‘kick’ back to level 3.įACT 3: You drop to Limbo if you die whilst dreaming under sedation It’s key to note that when awaking from the ‘shores of their subconscious’, they are fully aware of their surroundings and where they have landed. Cobb and Ariadne enter Limbo by dreaming one level deeper. On the Snow Level (or now infamously known as the ‘ James Bond Snow Level from GoldenEye‘), Fischer is killed by Mal(Cobb’s projection) and is sent into Limbo. What’s curious about this story is that there’s no mention of a kick to get out of limbo which leave the only option to get back to reality is death. He does not mention how they, Cobb and Mal, get to limbo however he is able to acknowledge that it is Limbo and he is still himself ie. In the movie, Cobb recalls his previous revisit to Limbo with Ariadne. With this out of the way, lets deep dive into the FACTS.įACT 1: Cobb and Mal entered Limbo and stay for 50 years ![]() The only way they leave Limbo is by getting run over by a train. We get a snapshot of Limbo through the perspective of Dom and Mal in which they build a ‘world of their own’ extensively for decades. ![]()
